Charter Schools | Public Education.

Recently, there had been discussions concerning the effectiveness of Public Schools versus Private Charter Schools,  to determine which one was better, when it comes to the quality of education that would be provided to foster the ultimate learning experience that will prepare our Black Children to meet the challenges and opportunities the world may have to offer them.

Roland Martin, who hosts a YouTube Channel Television Program on The Internet, showcased Five Charter Schools on a program titled Black Excellence, he utilized a video filmed in different areas of the country to appeal to viewers,  that they have a choice and it should be to support the Private Charter Schools.

A controversial issue, that apparently has become what some parents believe,  will be the answer, to what’s wrong with Public Education is literacy,  The majority of Pro-Private Charter School advocates, who have children attending at least one of the charter schools, believe that the literacy rate for their children has improved since they started attending Charter Schools.

Roland Martin cited during the showing of the video that 5% of the students attending Atlanta Public Schools had been reading below grade level.

There was a teacher, from a charter school located in the Bronx, an area of New York City.went on to cite behaviors like a better teacher, student relationships, more intimate classroom environment that was more conducive to the learning process.

This was supported by a Black father with two children attending that school, who said, that the teachers really seemed to care about their children. One of the teachers said that her class were like a family, and when you feel like that, you would try to do all that you can to protect and to care for your family.

• In addition, the Black father: stated that he could really see a difference in his two children from attending one of the schools. He said for the first time, they really seemed to enjoy going to school.

(However, every parent is not on board with the idea that Charter Schools are better).

The main, but not an exclusive argument being championed by those pro-Charter School parents is literacy. An educator from a Philadelphia Charter School cited during the showing of the video that 5% of the students that came to one of the Charter Schools had been reading below grade level, and 99% of students in the Public Education system came to a point where the just stopped learning.

Chicago Urban Prep proudly touts a 100% attendance record and a 100% Graduation Success Story. Sadly an Educator expressed that out of the black population living in Chicago, only six percent get a College Degree.

  

That bring us to A family tradition in Englewood, CA. The Wilder family of Educators.

Since 2003, when Wilder’s Preparatory Academy was first established, it continues to be one of the best Charter Schools in California.

                                                          Public Schools     

To began to talk about Public Schools, let us first differentiate between Public Schools, and Public Charter Schools, as they like to be called. The real difference is, Public Charter Schools are not really Public Schools at all. They are Private Schools that rely on their empathizing of the title Public, because of the enhanced benefits that come with using the name Public.

Charter School teachers do not have to be certified. Plus, there also appear to be two sets of rules, one for Public Charter Schools, and one for Public Schools which receives taxpayers’ dollars, therefore they are subject to public scrutiny. While Charter’s have utilized ways to avoid that same level of scrutiny. Another point is, that the State in which you live allow some differences in how schools operate by each State’s individual laws.

Charter Schools are not necessarily required to provide programs that meet the special needs of each special need’s student.

Some advantages of Public Education Schools:

·         Charter Schools come and go; therefore, Public Schools are more reliable.

·         Charter schools do not have to accept your child Public schools do.

·         Public schools belong to you, you are not paying for a business like you are doing by sending your children to Public Charter Schools.

·         When it comes to fiscal responsibility Public Schools are more frugal with their money.

·         When it comes to educational performances, public schools overall outperform public charter schools and provide a climate that offers more diversity.

My own opinion is that both Educational  School System compete for  tax dollars and every since the inception of Charter Schools, I knew I would always support the cause for maintaining and strengthening Public Schools by giving them the resources ( Money to provide for adequate resources to provide it, students, the Quality Education they deserve) this can and needs to be done. If you want more bang for your dollars, support Public Education.

Living your Life, on Your Terms.

I once heard a guy say, that when greeting others in the morning he would say, how is your thinking today? Instead of a good morning.  He went on to explain that when people are thinking well, they usually are doing well. 

I thought about this as I recalled,  some general conversations,  I’ve previously had with certain people, along with my reading some messages I saw posted on Facebook, some more interesting than other.

It occurred to me that far too many people,  are struggling to either maintain positive changes they have made in their lives,  or making the transition to remove the negativisms,  which are an impediment to their current quality of life.

I realized that some people need to take control over the influences, that effect their daily decision making.  [Some of you at this point are asking, how?] Well, first if you are one of these people, you need to understand that you are not living your life,  on a group plan. The choices and decisions you make are for you individually or your family. You along control your thoughts and feelings, no one can take this from you unless you give that control award 

Accept the fact that in some of your Environments and the World in which we live are pretty chaotic places, both of which are beyond your control. Now, how do you escape? 

Where can you go to get away from all the confusion and complexities of life, you go home. 

Make your place of residence your personal safe haven. Your domain for maintaining peace and tranquility. You control what come in or out there you are the gatekeeper to your privacy. If you have children teach them discipline, and understanding so they will learn that your home is where you get away from all the outside madness.

On a more personal note, you need to stop being conflicted about your personal lifestyle choices. If you are confident about how you want to live your life focus your attention and energy to whatever, choices you make. No one can tell you who you are. The life you choose for yourself is based and deeply grounded through the Individual decisions you make for yourself.

Regardless of what someone may have done for you in the past, you owe no one control over how you choose to live. When your mind and ideas change you are a new person. Beware, that people will always see you, the way you were, and not the person you are becoming. Do not be affected by their attitudes because, they may never change the way they think. Normally it is a waste of time to get them to see things your way. The best thing to do is prove you are different through your actions.

This is not about isolating yourself, when you meet negative people, politely find a way to exclude yourself from that conversation. Remember you control your actions.

New Knowledge 2015

This morning I decided to go and to buy me a breakfast platter,  I decided to go close-by to a Burger King Resturant located on Pettit Street, in Fort Wayne, IN.

I got into my car and took a short drive to the Resturant which was only a five-minute drive when using my car. When I arrived I drove up to the first menu station to place my order, I stopped in front of the speaker and waited for someone to speak and to take my order, after a brief pause, a female voice came over the speaker and asked if she could take my order? Yes , I

replied, I would like to order the deluxe breakfast platter and a cup of coffee. Would there be anything else she inquired. I said, that that would be all. She said please drive up to the first window. This window is where you pay for your order.  Arriving at the window, she said that would be $6.40 cents. That's when something strange begins to happen, normally, I would leave the order window and go to the pickup window, which was the second window, But today I was told to wait at the pay station window. ( she said she would bring the food out fresh) I’m sitting there thinking what on earth could be the reasoning behind such a request for me to wait there? I reluctantly waited, but my mind was hyperactive, wondering how many different ways of strangeness this request had actually been. The only purpose this could serve would be to keep me away from the pick-up window, at the pick-up window you could see the preparers getting the meals ready to be picked up. Now since I was waiting at the first window, they now would be out of my sight. I found this behavior to be very disturbing as well as unnerving. I only hope they did not tamper with my food. When I returned home, and being thoroughly disgusted threw the food in the trash. I decided to err on the side of caution, thinking it's better to be safe than sorry. What would you have done?

And they take your donation, make all kinds of flavored frosting for the cake being, served to you on a plater, you say “ Thank You”. They have a nice Investment pro-folio, how is your

Darn them Spell Checkers


I wonder if I am the only person having problems with spell checker applications, that I use on my computer? Well, what I discovered instead was something,  that is supposed to be so simple and easy, that is supposed to help you increase your production, Instead has apparently became a nightmare.
This causes me to lose huge amounts of time correcting the spell checkers. The situation I have pertains to the amount of writing done by me each day. If only I was able to focus on what I was doing everything would flow more easily.
Does anyone else have issues with spell checkers, I would like to know?

Internet, know what to post and what not to post.

When talking about personal issues, you not find people who truly understand the nature of the Internet, expressing confidential or other private information. I believe that a person who is educated from a Liberal Arts University, leaves that University more broadly rounded and prepared for the ways of the World. This has nothing to do with those attending Universities for the purpose of attaining or achieving more specialized Educational endeavors. I hope that people will wake up and realize the Internet is not innocence in this conversation. The Internet is an open platform, I remember sitting in Science Lab behind those microscopes and staring down at those little Petri dishes getting ready to examine some microscopic organism. To this reminds me of all those who never give thought, at exactly what the Internet, can be, you see,  you are what's being examined that on that petri dish, in front of the entire world. Whatever you are engaged in on that Petri dish is Being looked through a magnifying glass.
I'm just amazed.why would people do that?

                                        My old, but New Camera

I have an older model camera but, today it looked and actually felt brand new. My camera is a Canon Rebel IOS T3 that has been sitting on a shelf in a corner collecting dust. I took it down off from the shelf to have another look at it. Probably as many of you can attest to, some that started out being a simple inspection turned into a full blown project. Some of you may have guessed it. I turned to my computer, launched the YouTube app, and there I was, totally engaged with a tutorial telling me to look at what all my camera could do with just a little tweaking.When It made me look at the settings, Quickly I realized that my using three modes from the settings for the camera opened my eyes to how limited my picture taking experience had been, which was  nothing less than perfunctionary at best.From that point on through the rest of the day, I was likes kid with a brand new toy.

                                            Education or Intelligence


I’m writing this post because today, I‘m attempting to reap some form of knowledge from my more intelligent friends.
What would make a person, reluctantly using these words, [make a blanket statement saying some people confuse their College degrees with Intelligence] Because whether you call a person with an Degree Educated or not, or those thinking that he/ she is  Intelligent, these type of people will only know what they know. What is the real reason that prompted a post like that? [Curious ] why would someone write that? Do you think that jealousy could be rearing it’s ugly head? Let me know what you think. Hello and welcome to Checkpoint. Here I will be attempting to write about not so worthy news events. I am not a journalist or a writer. Just a guy trying to fulfill a childhood dream from my youth.

                                                                   First Post: We all need to vote.

Do not be dismayed, nothing in this Country is so bad that it is insurmountable, the Constitution as written provided certain protection for personal freedoms and liberties if we take care of them.  How do we do that? We have the right to vote. This right to vote is the key to unlock the door to change, but only if we use it. If you want things to change let’s help each other, we all need to vote during every election. The vote is paramount to anything else that can be done to right the wrongs that are taking place almost on a daily basis. Together we can make a difference. Let’s all vote. The change is us.
